Not like the others
Equality Obsessed
I was born and raised in a southern California farming town, where pomegranates sometimes ripened on a tree in the front yard. The f-word has been a favorite since I was 3, so if that offends you, we may not be able to be good friends. A veteran U.S. Air Force broadcast journalist, I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Va. Social inequality and peace studies there have permanently permeated my worldview. I'm a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. And right now, I desperately desire to live in a world where our universal connection to one another is precedent. My life-long loves are my daughters, who each hold a "tuchali" of my heart.

"You may write me down in history
with your bitter twisted lies
You may trod me in the very dirt
but still like dust I'll rise
- Maya Angelou
